Launched in the Fall of 2014, the ECE Integrated BSEE/MSE Degree Program serves a combination of goals:
(1) recruit top high school students to the ECE program at the University of Texas;
(2) prepare students for positions in industry that demand an MSE degree as the “working degree”; and
(3) improve student preparation for competitive Ph.D. programs.
Admission to the ECE Integrated BSEE/MSE Degree Program requires an ECE student to have demonstrated strong academic performance in the first 2-1/2 years of the BSEE program, which includes a combination of basic preparatory courses and more advanced courses targeting the student’s specific area of focus.
UT Austin ECE students who are admitted into the ECE Integrated BSEE/MSE Degree Program will receive the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering: Integrated Option degree and a Master of Science in Engineering degree simultaneously after successfully completing a minimum total of 150 hours, 30 of which must qualify for the MSE program of work in ECE.
