Biography:

Arwin Dougal received his B.S. degree from Iowa State University and received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois in 1955 and 1957 respectively. Dr. Dougal joined the faculty at the University of Illinois and served as an associate professor until 1961 when he came to The University of Texas at Austin. He served as assistant director of Defense Research and Engineering in the Research Office of the Secretary of Defense from 1967-1969. From 1971-1977, Dr. Dougal was director of the Electronics Research Center.

Dr. Dougal received numerous teaching awards during his career. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, and received the Centennial medal from IEEE in 1984.
