Biography:
Dr. H.W. (Skeet) Smith joined the UT-Austin faculty in 1952 as an Assistant Professor. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in circuits and systems, controls, and digital signal processing.
With Professor F. X. Bostick he has conducted numerous electrical geophysics experiments in various parts of the world. The objective of these studies was to investigate methods for determining the structure of the earth, including exploration techniques for finding mineral, geothermal, and hydrocarbon d eposits.
He served as director of the Electrical Engineering Research Laboratory from 1973 to 1984. He has received the General Dynamics and Student Association teaching awards and is a Life Fellow in IEEE.
