Scalable Engineering Computation and Electronic Design Automation on Cloud Platforms

A combination of parallel computing architectures and scalable algorithms have changed the computing landscape in a variety of scientific computing arenas. In this talk we examine the effect of emerging high-performance cloud platforms, such as AWS EC2 on engineering applications within electronic design automation. In particular, we look at scalable computational electromagnetics, parasitic extraction, and system-level simulation from the viewpoint of on-demand scalability, security, and fault tolerance.
