Step 2 - Complete ApplyTexas online
ApplyTexas is the form The University requires of all applicants for graduate school. The Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) receives the ApplyTexas forms and sends the information to UT-ECE.
To complete ApplyTexas, you will need
- Statement of Purpose, an essay describing your reasons for pursuing graduate study and your academic and professional interests and goals.
- Information on three individuals who will write Letters of Reference(1) for you, including their name, position, and email address.
In the "Biographical Information" section, ApplyTexas asks for your "First Choice Major." UT-ECE uses the term "Academic Track," which you selected in Step 1. So, if your primary interest is Integrated Circuits & Systems, select "ECE-Circuits." If your academic track is Software Engineering or Computer Architecture & Embedded Processors, please select "ECE-Computer Engineering" as your "First Choice Major."
In the "Educational Background and Test Score Information" section, ApplyTexas asks for your "specific area of interest or specialty within your proposed major." This is the same as your "First Choice Major," e.g. "ECE-Circuits."
In 1-2 business days you will receive via email your University of Texas Electronic Identifier (UTEID) and password. You will need them to complete the ECE Graduate Application.

Notes:
(1) Letters of Reference - GIAC will send your referees an email asking them to submit a letter of reference online. Make sure their email accounts are working because a bad email address or full mailbox can seriously delay and even stop the processing of your application. If paper copies of letters are unavoidable, download a "Request for Reference" form from the GIAC Downloads page. Ask referees to complete the form, seal it and/or a letter in an envelope, sign his/her name across the flap, and return it to you, rather than mailing it directly to GIAC. This allows you to send all the required documents in one package directly to GIAC.
We strongly suggest you mail your application materials to GIAC at least one month prior to the deadline to ensure the timely processing of your application.
