Accounts
ECE provides both linux and windows accounts for all Qualifing Individuals. If you qualify for an account you can use the ACME system to manage your ECE LRC Account online.
Everyone with an ECE LRC account gets an email address. This email can be forwarded to any other email address if you would like by using the ACME system to manage your account.
Engineering Applications
These applications are available on our LRC Linux and Solaris machines.

Laptop Initiative
The ECE Laptop Initiative allows students, faculty and staff to purchase a laptop from HP at student discount. There are currently two laptops and one Tablet PC configuration available. Individuals purchasing a laptop through the ECE Laptop Initiative will be able to use the ECE IT Helpdesk for hardware and some software support.
Real Time Collaboration
All ECE Accounts have access to use the ECE Real Time Collaboration tools. This includes:
- Instant Messaging
- Internet Relay Chat
- Voice Conferencing
- Video Conferencing
Web Applications
ECE maintains a number of web applications for various members of our organization.
Web Hosting
ECE-IT currently offers two types of web hosting for the department.
Personal Webspace Hosting
Every ECE LRC account has a personal webspace associated with it. You can reach this by enabling your 'pubic_html' directory and surfing to http://users.ece.utexas.edu/~(your_username)
Research Group Webspace Hosting
ECE-IT also offers web publishing to departmental research groups and departmental student orgainazations.
