Flag Flown at Half-staff in Honor of Evan Line

The State of Texas flag outside the tower at The University of Texas at Austin was lowered to half-staff today in honor of UT ECE student Evan Michael Line who passed away on December 4, 2014. Evan was an ECE freshman who was just finishing his first semester at UT.

Evan graduated from hgh school in Cibolo, Texas last year, though he came from a military family who moved around a lot. He enjoyed playing in the high school band before beginning his studies at UT this past August. Evan was an active member of the Fall 2014 ECE First-year Interest Group "The Designers."

Janice Williams, Senior Program Coordinator for the UT ECE Undergraduate Office, remembers him fondly:

"From the very first time I met Evan, I could tell that he was an absolutely positive, bright (literally glowing with genuine happiness), and caring young man!  Evan would walk into our classroom smiling and ready to connect with his friends and engage in whatever activities Saijel Mokashi (Mentor) and I had planned for the day. And when Evan and I met during an advising session, he talked about his ambitions as a future electrical engineer, and it was obvious to me that he was absolutely thrilled to be a member of our ECE family. I want to extend my deepest condolences to all who loved and cared for Evan. He will be greatly missed."

The family is asking that contributions in his memory be made to:
