Xinnian Zheng, Ph.D student at Texas ECE along with Prof. Lizy John and Prof. Andreas Gerstlauer received the Best Research Paper Award at the 53rd Design Automation Conference (DAC) held in Austin, Texas in early June. The paper titled, “Accurate Phase-Level Cross-Platform Power and Performance Estimation” received the honor at the leading conference in electronic design automation (EDA).
DAC is recognized as the premier conference for design and automation of electronic systems. DAC presents its members with outstanding training, educational and networking opportunities. Members range from diverse areas such as system design and architect, logic and circuit design, validation engineering, CAD, and research and academic institutions. A committee of electronic design experts offer information on recent developments and trends, management practices and new products, methodologies and technologies.
Zheng’s paper was selected from among 16 best paper nominees and 150 accepted papers out of almost 700 manuscripts submitted entries for the conference. The paper and the presentation were both considered for the award. Zheng is advised by UT ECE Prof. Lizy John and Prof. Andreas Gerstlauer.
Prof. Lizy John is the B. N Gafford Professor at Texas ECE. She joined The University of Texas at Austin (UT) in 1996 and received the NSF Career award the same year. Her research interests focus on microprocessor design, performance evaluation and benchmarking, workload characterization and reconfigurable computing.
Prof. Andreas Gerstlauer is an Associate Professor at Texas ECE. His research interests are in the area of embedded systems specifically with a focus on electronic system-level design (ESL/SLD), system modeling, design languages and methodologies, and embedded hardware and software synthesis.
