Dr. Martha Fowler was born in August of 1939 and received her doctorate in Electrical Engineering form the University of Texas at Austin in 1969. She was employed from many years in her career in Dallas with Texas Instruments and Lockheed Martin working on projects with embedded electrical systems and controls. She is now retired and lives outside Tyler, Texas.

Dr. Brooks Carlton Fowler was born April 5, 1936 and received his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1973.

He served in the Texas Army National Guard and was an engineer for Tracor in Austin, McDonnell Douglas and Interstate Electronics in California, and Texas Instruments and E-Systems in Dallas. He held two patents in digital signal processing.

Shahrzad Mirkhani received her PhD in Computer Engineering from Texas ECE in 2014. After serving as a VP of Engineering in the startup Bigstream, she recently joined Meta as a software engineer. We sat down with Shahrzad to learn more about her career in engineering and her time at UT Austin.

Siobhan Madden is an undergraduate student from Sugar Land, TX focusing on Electronics and Integrated Circuits. She started at UT in Fall 2019. She has served as the power systems lead in Longhorn Racing solar’s team and a member of Student Engineers Educating Kids (SEEK).She also serves as a mentor in the Texas ECE TALENT program. 

Yifan Jiang, a PhD student in the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, has been named a recipient of a 2023 Apple Scholars in AI/ML PhD fellowship.

Hannah Amitrano is an undergraduate student from San Antonio focusing on Computer Architecture and Embedded Systems. She started at UT in Fall 2019.

Daniel Wasserman, professor in the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received one of 13 grants awarded to proposals for the Advanced Component Technology Program (ACT-22), a technology development program managed by the Earth Science Technology Office (ESTO). 

Cockrell School alumnus, software engineer and Shark Tank finalist Ecleamus Ricks, Jr. has always considered himself a creator. Fascinated with his grandfather’s skills as a carpenter, Ricks knew he wanted to build things using science and numbers.
