The award recognizes the paper titled, ‘Multi-Type Activity Recognition in Robot-Centric Scenario’, which he co-authored with Dr. Ilaria Gori, Dr. Larry Matthies, and Dr. Michael  Ryoo.

Prof. Al Bovik and his former student Rajiv Soundararajan have been named recipients of the IEEE Circuits and Systems for Video Technology Best Paper Award for 2016. The award recognizes their 2013 paper “Video Quality Assessment by Reduced Reference Spatio-Temporal Entropic Differencing,”  which appeared in the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology in April 2013.

Sungmin Cho and Prof. Christine Julien Receive PerCom Best Paper Award

Julien and Cho

Texas ECE PhD student Sungmin Cho and his advisor Christine Julien received the Mark Weiser Best Paper Award at PerCom 2016, held on March 14-18, 2016 in Sydney, Australia. Percom is the premier conference in pervasive computing and communications. The pair was recognized for the paper "CHITCHAT: Navigating Tradeoffs in Device-to-Device Context Sharing." The Mark Weiser Best Paper award is given to a single paper in the selective PerCom conference based on a combination of the paper and its presentation at the conference.

Texas ECE and Wireless Networking and Communications Group (WNCG) alumni, Prof. Harpreet S. Dhillon and Dr. Radha Krishna Ganti, along with Profs. Jeffrey Andrews and François Baccelli, recently received the 2015 IEEE Communications Society Young Author Best Paper Award. They received the award for their paper entitled “Modeling and Analysis of K-Tier Downlink Heterogeneous Cellular Networks.”

Romain Fleury Receives Best Student Paper at ASA

UT ECE graduate student Romain Fleury has been named the recipient of the Best Student Paper Award in Engineering Acoustics at at the 168th meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in Indianapolis for his work on "Non-Reciprocal Acoustic Devices Based on Spacio-Temporal Angular-Momentum Modulation.” Romain had already been named the recipient of the "Young Presenter Award in Noise" at ASA earlier last month.
