Faculty Advising Program for Major Sequence Students
The goal of the Faculty Advising Program is to provide Electrical and Computer Engineering students, who have completed the Basic Sequence, a faculty mentor with whom they can discuss academic and career issues. It is with this assigned faculty mentor that you may discuss topics such as:
- The short- and long-term prospects for the Tech Area.
- The appropriateness of the pre-approved Tech Area courses for your interests and career goals
- Adapting Tech Areas and the technical elective courses to meet your needs.
The procedure for getting into the Faculty Advising Program is detailed below.
-
Once a student is admitted to Major Sequence, he or she will receive an email asking her/him to come to ENS 135 to meet with an advisor.
- The student and an advisor will review his/her academic progress to date. At the end of the meeting, the student will receive a Tech Area Selection Worksheet to fill out. This worksheet is designed to help identify courses the student has enjoyed in the Basic Sequence, courses that the student would like to take before graduation, and what the student would like to do upon graduation
- When the student completes the Tech Area Selection Worksheet, he or she submits it in ENS 135.
- Within five (5) business days, the student will receive an email from the Undergraduate Student Office stating the name of her/his assigned advisor.
Once a student is in the Faculty Advising Program, their early registration bar will be cleared automatically until they graduate.
