Edward Salas is Vice President of Network Planning for Verizon Wireless, responsible for network strategy, planning, purchasing, and administration.
Salas was previously Vice President Network Engineering & Planning for Vodafone AirTouch, where he oversaw network planning, deployment, and technical support. He led AirTouch ‘s transition from an analog network to a digital cellular network and also worked to develop radio frequency and switch engineering methods and procedures for the company.
Prior to leading Vodafone AirTouch’s network development, he served as vice President, German Operations and Chief Technical Officer of Mannesmann Mobilfunk.
From 1997-1998 he served as Vice President Network Engineering & Planning for AirTouch Communications. From 1996-1997, he served as Vice President for AirTouch International responsible for International Joint Venture market consultation and cellular license application. From 1994-1996 Salas held the position of Chief Technical Officer for Telecel S.A., a Portuguese cellular operator.
Salas began his 25-year telecommunications career in 1979 with Pacific Telephone & Telegraph where he held a variety of technical and operational assignments. He holds a Bachelors Degree from California State University at Los Angeles and in 1990 completed the Harvard Business School ’s Executive Program at Cambridge , Massachusetts .
