My Beliefs
With all the different religious groups and worldviews known today, it is difficult to choose which one is right, and how to establish truth in one's own life. In today's culture, many have abandoned religion and God altogether, turning to themselves to decide what is right, eliminating absolute truth and replacing it with moral relativism. However, I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is a true historical figure that lived approximately 2000 years ago in ancient Israel. His life is well documented, and many people saw him perform miracles of all kinds, and after his crucifixion, death, and resurrection over 500 people saw him before his ascension into heaven. The followers of Jesus Christ later recorded many significant events in his life in the four gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. I believe that these scriptures, in addition to the later epistles, Revelation, and the Old Testament were all inspired by the Holy Spirit and superintended by God through the men writing them. I believe the Bible is God's revelation to man, a work which gives an account of the history of the universe and reveals what will happen in the end times when God will judge the entire earth through his son. Thus, I believe that God is the creator of all things, and that his son is co-creator, having always existed with the Father.
While on the earth, Christ made many claims to being the Messiah, the Son of God, and the only way to God. He is the prophet who was spoken of in the Old Testament, who would redeem His people Israel and the entire earth, covering their trangressions by his own blood. Many say that he was a great prophet, a holy man, but nothing more. His statements make clear, however, that he is in fact equal to God, and one with the Father. Therefore, he is either a liar, a lunatic, or the Son of God. With that in mind, I urge you to investigate the evidence of Christ and his claims, which I believe you will find very conclusive. He offers us eternal life that is based on faith and not works, for we as sinners can never completely satisfy God's law. To receive the free gift of eternal life, you must receive the Lord Jesus Christ, and trust solely in him for the forgiveness of your sins. We must repent of our evil ways and acknowledge that Christ is the only way for our sins to be atoned for, so that we are considered as righteous before the Father.
Religous Affiliation
In addition to my church affiliation, I also belong to and participate in the Navigators ministry here at UT Austin. The mission of this organization is to know Christ and make him known. Some of the activities include weekly gatherings, Bible studies, scripture memory, and community service.
