The pipeline microarchitecture of the latest shipping Centaur-developed x86 processor is briefly explored, plus emphasis on practical components and features necessary to make a shippable processor chip: technology considerations, power management, configuration & tuning, field update, debug, and manufacturing test.

Starting with his first programming job job in 1963, Mr. Henry has had a long and broad history in computing. He worked for IBM for 21 years, led the architecture of multiple important IBM computers, and was appointed an IBM Fellow. He next worked for Michael Dell for over five years as Senior VP & CTO of Dell Computers. He then founded Centaur Technology, designer of x86 processors, which has been in existence for over 20 years. He has had various consulting jobs, has been on several boards, and is an inventor on over 200 patents.
