Advanced Imaging System for Automated Insert Inspection

An automated insert inspection system using an integrated camera that will determine when an insert change is required without any input from the operator. The system shall be programmed to detect the various failure modes of machining tools such as built up edge, fatigue wear, flank wear, chipping, plastic deformation, thermal cracking, etc. The system will eliminate the “guess work” that often goes into an insert change, resulting in more consistent and reliable tooling costs.
