Michael Brownewell graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in December 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. In June 2010, he was hired by ExxonMobil Pipeline Company as a Field Electrical Engineer. In this role, he planned and executed many projects involving radio/satellite/cellular SCADA communications, pipeline and distribution terminal automation systems, power distribution, and industrial control system cyber security. He traveled extensively during this time through Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Washington, and California.
His current role is Applications Engineer for the Pipeline SCADA Improvement and Modernization (SIM) project. This multi-million dollar project will completely replace the existing central pipeline control system used to operate all 83 of ExxonMobil’s pipeline systems in the United States and Canada. He is responsible for integrating advanced applications into the new system including leak detection, pipeline simulation training, product tracking, alarm management, real-time optimization, and cyber security tools.
Michael is 30 years old and lives in Houston, Texas with his wife, Tiffany.
