Lucas Holt

Lecturer

Lucas Holt is a Lecturer in the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin.

He attended the University of Texas at Austin receiving his bachelors degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2012 and his PhD in 2017.

His Doctoral research focused on the pre-clinical development of a device capable of making hemodynamic measurements in implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs).

After completing his doctoral degree, Dr. Holt entered the medical device industry as an embedded systems engineer and was part of the development and submission of a series of FDA regulated medical devices for the neonatal infant care industry.

Dr. Holt’s teaching interests are focused on Embedded System Design and the development of medical devices. This includes a new class of medical devices termed Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). SaMD devices are typically Mobile/Web/Cloud Applications that are regulated by the FDA and have an intended use to treat, cure, prevent, mitigate, or diagnose a disease.

Research Interests
Bio Signal Processing
time-frequency analysis
mixed-signal embedded system design
non-invasive fetal heart monitoring
real-time physiologic closed-loop control systems
