Teresa is a distinguished leader in the field of telecommunications and data analytics, currently serving as a Senior Delivery Manager at Ciena Corporation. A proud alumna of The University of Texas at Austin, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with highest honors in 1981 before completing a Master’s degree at Caltech in 1983. With over four decades of experience, Teresa has built a career at the intersection of engineering, program management, and strategic leadership, contributing to major industry players including Bell Laboratories, MCI, Verizon, and Slalom Consulting.

Teresa began her career at Bell Labs, where she quickly transitioned into technical management and discovered her passion for leading high-performing teams. Her journey took her to MCI/Verizon, where she led teams pivotal roles in network engineering, product development, and IT program management, including an international assignment in the UK. After a brief break, she returned to the workforce as a consultant, expanding her expertise across industries such as healthcare, transportation, and banking. At Ciena, she leads a data analytics team that empowers network providers to optimize and evolve their infrastructure through actionable insights.

Beyond her professional achievements, Teresa is a dedicated advocate for education and community service. As a member of the Texas ECE External Advisory Committee for over 10 years, she continues to give back to her alma mater through mentorship and leadership.  A first-generation college graduate, Teresa’s story is one of perseverance, curiosity, and impact – inspiring those around her.  As she looks ahead to her next chapter in retirement, she plans to channel her experience into volunteer work, and to spend time with family & friends, traveling, singing, and gardening.
