Mobile Silicon as the New Driver of Mainstream Computing

Mainstream computing has gone through multiple epochs, and the latest is now upon us. The importance of energy and space efficiency, power density, and the integration of application-driven acceleration has made mobile computing a new driver of compute architecture— and the next generation of mainstream computing.

Tim Millet’s Platform Architecture group helps develop Apple devices, driving Apple’s system-on-chip (SoC) architecture. They also create forward-looking prototype systems and algorithms for platform power, performance, and thermal management. Tim holds over 60 patents and has been with Apple for 15 years.
