The University of Texas at Austin chapter of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (IEEE RAS) recently won the Vex AI World Championship in Houston, Texas.
The Vex AI competition is an international competition in which teams develop two robots from the ground up every year to compete in a fully autonomous game. This involves designing mechanical subsystems from conception and developing a robust software suite.
Along with being tournament champions, the Texas IEEE RAS team also won the Design award for having the best professional engineering documentation and the Sportsmanship award given for having great character.
IEEE RAS is a student organization open to students from any background and major. Since 1997, they have helped students gain practical multi-disciplinary experience in the lab, then demonstrated our abilities at various robotics competitions while promoting robotics via community outreach.
