Neeraja Yadwadkar

Texas ECE assistant professor Neeraja Yadwadkar has been selected to receive an inaugural 2025 Google ML and Systems Junior Faculty Award in recognition of the significance and promise of her work in Cloud ML Systems.

The recipients, who were selected by a distinguished group of Google engineers and researchers, will receive grants of $100,000 in unrestricted funding.

"These professors are leading the analysis, design and implementation of efficient, scalable, secure and trustworthy computing systems," said Amin Vahdat, VP/GM, ML, Systems and Cloud AI for Google. "Their work crosses the technology stack, from algorithms to software and hardware, enabling machine learning and cloud computing at increasingly massive scale."

Neeraja Yadwadkar is an assistant professor and is a Fellow of the Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Chair in Computer Engineering in the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin.

She leads the UT-SysML Lab, where her research bridges computer systems and machine learning. Her work focuses on making large-scale AI models efficient and scalable—developing new systems for inference serving, resource-aware deployment, and edge-cloud collaboration, to enable real-time and next-generation AI workloads.
