Prof. Mikhail Belkin Awarded Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award

Prof. Mikhail Belkin has been named the recipeint of the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Prof. Belkin was honored for his research achievements in the field of mid-infrared and terahertz photonics.

The award is given to internationally renowned  academics from outside of Germany in  recognition  of  their  outstanding  accomplishments  in research to date and their exceptional promise for the future. The Humboldt Foundation grants about 20 Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Awards annually to international scholars in all academic fields.

Prof. Belkin holds the Jack Kilby/Texas Instruments Endowed Faculty Fellowship in Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. Recently he was elected a Fellow of the Optical Society of America.
