The University of Texas at Austin Engineering Student Council presneted Prof. Yale Patt the award for Outstanding ECE Professor 2014 at the Cockrell School of Engineering Awards Banquet in April. This is the third time Prof. Patt has been recognized. He was also named Outstanding ECE Professor in 2007 and 2009. Winners were determined by student voting.

Prof. Ranjit Gharpurey, along with a colleague, Prof. J. C. Rudell from the University of Washington, has received a 3-year grant from the National Science Foundation.
Prof. David Pan has received the 2014 RAISE (Recognizing Asian & Asian American Faculty & Staff Instilling Strength and Excellence) Award. The award was given at the annual RAISE Excellence Award Ceremony co-hosted by the Asian/Asian American Faculty and Staff Association (AAAFSA) and the Asian Desi Pacific Islander American Collective (APAC). One faculty member and one staff member at UT Austin were honored for the 2014 RAISE Excellence Award.
UT ECE students in the Real-Time Operating Systems course held their autonomous robot race final on Friday, May 2. The students design and implement a distributed RTOS and implement autonomous driving with up to 8 sensors and two motors.
Prof. Gustavo de Veciana and his PhD student Virag Shah have received a 2014 INFOCOM Best Paper Award for their paper "Performance Evaluation and Asymptotics for Content Delivery Networks."
The University of Texas at Austin Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (UT ECE) hosted the Spring 2014 Senior Design Open House on Monday, April 21, 2014. UT ECE undergraduate seniors presented demonstrations of their projects spanning two semesters of work.
Prof. Nina Telang has been named as the recipient of a 2014 Dad's Association Centennial Teaching Fellowship. This fellowship is a very prestigious award and given annually to faculty at UT Austin committed to the teaching of freshman undergraduates.

Prof. Robert Heath of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and director of the Wireless and Networking Communications Group and his co-author UT ECE alumnus Kien T. Truong have been named as the recipients of the 2014 Journal of Communications and Networks (JCN) Best Paper Award.
