UT ECE would like to congratulate all undergraduate and graduate students for Spring and Summer 2011 who were honored last week at graduation ceremonies from The University of Texas at Austin. For the second year in a row UT ECE has won first place in the local Present Around the World competition sponsored by IET, The Institution of Engineering and Technology (the British equivalent of IEEE). The competition provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their presentation skills and be recognized by this organization. UT ECE competed against two other schools, Texas A&M and the University of Houston. The talks are limited to 10 minutes, and judged 75% on presentation skills and 25% on technical content.
The Alcade, The University of Texas at Austin alumni magazine, recently named their list of the Top 10 Most Inspiring Professors and UT ECE professor John Pearce made the list. For a professor of literature, being soulful and philosophical might be an easier feat. But John Pearce manages it even while teaching the intricacies of electrical engineering.
The EE 464 Senior Design Contest winners for Spring 2011 were recently awarded by Prof. Gary Hallock at the Senior Design Open House on Thursday, April 28th. First place went to the H.A.N.D. team of Benjamin Jaiyen, Jason Lii, Ophelia Chaio and Varun Koyyalagunta. Congratulations to all the participants for putting on a great open house.
