The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) at The University of Texas at Austin has been selected to engineer the next generation of high-performing semiconductor microsystems.

Last Fall, Texas ECE launched a course on ASIC Design targeted towards next generation semiconductor workforce development in integrated circuit designs.

A new master’s degree program at The University of Texas at Austin will help fill the demand for semiconductor scientists and engineers and give students a chance to lead the next wave of innovation in the booming semiconductor industry.

Texas ECE professors Seth Bank and Dan Wasserman, along with Kun Li and Andrew Briggs from their research team, and collaborators from Purdue University and University of Massachusetts Lowell have found a way to create more efficient metamaterials using semiconductors and a novel aspect of physics that amplifies the activity of electrons.
