Texas ECE celebrated our 2020-2021 graduates and award winners and inducted two new alumni in to our Academy of Distinguished Alumni in a virtual ceremony on Wednesday, May 19, 2021

Jean Anne Incorvia, an assistant professor in the Cockrell School's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, recently published a trio of papers seeking to solve challenges facing these new computing paradigms.

Texas ECE PhD student Tianlong Chen has been selected to receive a 2021 IBM PhD Fellowship Award.

The student branch of The University of Texas at Austin Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) group has been recognized as the Outstanding Student Branch of branches with 50 people or more in Region 5.

The UT Austin IEEE branch is the largest student organization in Texas ECE and is composed of 188 student members. Their aim is to "bring ECE students of all years together to learn from each other and build a community within the department."

Prof. Aryan Mokhtari of Texas ECE has been awarded an Early Career Program (ECP) award from the Army Research Office (ARO),an element of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s Army Research Laboratory, for his research on "Accelerating Adaptivity under Limited Data and Computation: A Meta-Learning Approach."

Texas ECE student Teddy Hsieh has been named a 2021 Goldwater Scholar. Hsieh is studying Materials Research and is supervised by Prof. Seth Bank in the Laboratory for Advanced Semiconductor Epitaxy (LASE).

Prof. Sarfraz Khurshid of Texas ECE has been named a recipient of the 2021 European Joint Conferences on Theory and Practice of Software (ETAPS) Test of Time Award for his paper on "Generalized Symbolic Execution for Model Checking and Testing." 

We sat down with alumna Dr. Elizabeth Bodine-Baron (BSEE, BA, 2006) to discuss her career in electrical and computer engineering.

Four students from Texas ECE have been named recipients of National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships .The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines.

Three Texas ECE graduate students, Grace Jeanpierre, Samuel Liu, and Philip Tan received the prestigious fellowships, as well as one Texas ECE alumnus, Jerry Yang, who received his BSEE in Spring 2020.

UT’s AI/ML chops leveled up even further this year when Zhangyang “Atlas” Wang joined the Cockrell School after three years as an assistant professor at Texas A&M University. Wang’s research has garnered recognition from such luminaries in the field as Amazon and IBM.
