Prof. Gustavo de Veciana and his PhD student Virag Shah have received a 2014 INFOCOM Best Paper Award for their paper "Performance Evaluation and Asymptotics for Content Delivery Networks."

The University of Texas at Austin Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (UT ECE) hosted the Spring 2014 Senior Design Open House on Monday, April 21, 2014. UT ECE undergraduate seniors presented demonstrations of their projects spanning two semesters of work.

Prof. Neal Hall has been named a recipient of a 2014 Office of Naval Research (ONR) Young Investigator Program (YIP) award.

Prof. Nina Telang has been named as the recipient of a 2014 Dad's Association Centennial Teaching Fellowship. This fellowship is a very prestigious award and given annually to faculty at UT Austin committed to the teaching of freshman undergraduates.

Prof. Jeff Andrews and Prof. François Baccelli have been named as recipients of IEEE Communications Society Awards for their work on cellular networks.

Prof. Robert Heath of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and director of the Wireless and Networking Communications Group and his co-author UT ECE alumnus Kien T. Truong have been named as the recipients of the 2014 Journal of Communications and Networks (JCN) Best Paper Award.

UT ECE alumna Yang Zhao has received a 2014 Outstanding Dissertation Award from The University of Texas at Austin graduate school.

Prof. David Pan, PhD student Subhendu Roy, and their Mentor Graphics collaborators have received the Best Paper Award at the 23rd ACM International Symposium on Physical Design (ISPD).

Dr. François Baccelli, the Simons Chair in Mathematics and Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, has been selected to receive the 2014 ACM SIGMETRICS Achievement award.

UT ECE PhD student Bei Yu has been named a recipeient of a Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad. This is a highly competitive national award given to Chinese students who study abroad not directly sent by Chinese government, which number more than 200,000 in the US alone. Out of these hundreds of thousands of students worldwide, only up to 500 receive this prestigious recognition. 

Bei Yu will be recognized at a ceremony at the Chinese Consulate General in Houston and be presented aith a plaque and a $6,000 monetary prize.
