Outreach

Texas ECE believes in the importance of building a community that is inclusive and invested in the success of all of its members. The Texas ECE Outreach Program partners with Texas schools and youth organizations to expand and strengthen the engineering education pipeline.

Edison Lecture Series

The Edison Lecture Series is a free, interactive STEM learning experience that engages middle and high school students with the fun side of electrical and computer engineering. Edison attendees learn the fundamentals of an engineering topic through a university-style lecture, then see these concepts come to life through hands-on demos.

ECE Exploration Day

ECE Exploration Day is an invitation-only event for newly admitted electrical and computer engineering students. The program was founded with the intent of better educating students on their choice of university, showcasing how Texas ECE stands apart from other ECE/CS programs. This daylong event is focused on the learning environment of Texas ECE students and provides them the valuable experience of one-on-one time with faculty, staff, alumni and current students.

ECE Peer Ambassador Program

Peer ambassadors are student workers who represent Texas ECE in welcoming prospective students. They attend departmental events for newly admitted students, present at monthly information sessions for students interested in applying to Texas ECE, and meet individually with prospective students to answer questions about the curriculum and student experience. They serve a vital role in enhancing our ability to develop relationships with future Texas ECE students in order to increase our outreach opportunities.

Texas Engineering Belonging and Engagement

The Texas Engineering Belonging and Engagement Office is comprised of three units. The three units are the Equal Opportunity in Engineering Program (EOE), the Women in Engineering Program (WEP) and Engineering Student Life (ESL). The three offices foster a sense of belonging by providing services, programs and support to special populations within the Cockrell School of Engineering. The Texas Engineering Belonging and Engagement Office provides workshops, student leadership opportunities and welcoming spaces that help all students have a wonderful experience to aid in positive educational outcomes.
