Prof. Al Bovik Gives Keynote at Electronic Imaging 2011

UT ECE professor Al Bovik recently gave the keynote presentation at the IS&T/SPIE Electronic Imaging Conference. in January. Prof. Bovik's presentation, "New Dimensions in Visual Quality," can now be seen online. Prof. Bovik discusses his personal view of the future of research of automated visual quality assessment algorithms.

Al Bovik is the Curry/Cullen Trust Endowed Chair Professor at The University of Texas at Austin. He is well known for his fundamental work in perceptual image and video processing and modeling of visual perception. Al is particularly noted in recent years for his pioneering work on image and video quality assessment. Al has received a number of major awards from the IEEE Signal Processing Society, including: the Best Paper Award (2009); the Education Award (2007); the Technical Achievement Award (2005), the Distinguished Lecturer Award (2000); and the Meritorious Service Award (1998). He is a Fellow of the IEEE, a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA), and a Fellow of the Society of Photo-Optical and Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
